Dear Gang,

I am trying to replace the fan clutch on my 1960 New Yorker. So far, nothing I have ordered that supposedly will fit is correct. The shafts are either too long or too short. I finally installed the short clutch but it is about 1.5 or 2" from the radiator, which seems too far.

I am sure someone out there knows a correct replacement for the fan clutch and would greatly appreciate any help. The fan clutch that I removed was not ancient, but it had not revealing numbers to help me.

Thanks!

Rex

Did you try Rockauto? They have an array of different sizes available. Just measure out the height of your old one to compare to the new one's specs with the "info" button.

Thanks, but none of those they have listed as fitting are correct; they are too long or too short. I love Rock Auto for lots of things, but their info. is not always accurate for the old stuff.

What length are you looking for? The Mopar Performance unit worked for a stock radiator and stock BB in my 1960 Plymouth perfectly. I have a part# for a replacement unit, if you want I can try to find it. Actually I have one of these for sale, but I'm located in Germany.

Dear All,

I just looked and the Hayden 2947 is the clutch I just installed. It does fit and work, but it is almost 2" away from the radiator which seem a bit too far away. Thanks to everyone for the help!

Best,

Rex

Heres the old thread about the Hayden 2765 (Jaguar) fan clutch. The fan clutch has worked perfectly over the 5 years since installed.
My car is used for active driving, highway, city or cruising.

I installed one on my 60 Saratoga last summer, it was off an early 70s Mopar.
