Hello everyone and greetings from Finland.

I have problems with pinion seal.
My car is 1956 Desoto Fireflite 2dr Ht
I bought a National 7216 seal and was going to replace the old one, but it's not correct for my car. My current seal is much larger.
I cannot use my old one because it damaged when I took it out.
I measured the pinion shaft is 2.125" and bore is 3.35" The current seal is two lips seal.
Casting number on carrier is 1404465
Yoke is 10 splines.
Could anyone help me?
Kind regards
Jaakko Kuru

I think the PN for your pinion seal was 663 602 (just six numbers). On that basis, search on ebay shows up:

I see 5851

Thanks for your response.
National 5851 has same id: 1.875 than national 7216. Those are too small for my pinion. Id would be 2.125"

Well, I tried. 663 602 was my best guess based on the info below. However, I see know that 1404 504 might have been a better PN.

This leads to these:

345 DeSoto - 2007-06-01 2:03 PM
Got it! 6840-S is Front Wheel Seal, 55-58 ALL Dodge, Plymouth, Chrysler, DeSoto...Mopar #1613409, and 6845 is Pinion Seal, ALL 55-56 Chrysler, DeSoto except Chrysler Windsor 5 passenger...Mopar #1404504.
