Member Posts: 9 | What and my intake options with the poly 301? I am wanting to convert it to fuel injection via Holly Sniper EFI and I'm looking for options. Also what are the simplest alternator conversion?

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9904 Location: Lower Mainland BC | First thing that you would have to decide is 2 bbl or 4 bbl Holley Sniper. The 2 bbl Sniper seems to be good to 350 hp. The 4 bbl Sniper up to 650 hp. Both probably appreciate head, camshaft and exhaust work to flow better, i.e. more $$$. Then you would have to see what 301 manifolds might be still be available for Holley 2 or 4 bbl carbs. The Sniper bases are designed around Holley carburetors. You might have to have an adapter plate made. Good luck. Edited by 56D500boy 2018-08-01 4:59 PM

Regular Posts: 65 | You won't find anything as they only made very few aftermarket options for the Poly A block. All the chrysler power/mopar/whatever will not fit. 318 LA stuff does not fit. You need A Block stuff and A block only. You won't get any additional power or economy going to Fuel Injection over the 2BBL you have. If you want more power, buy another block - you could sink 20K into that block and still get stomped by a hemi. I say all this owning a 303 A Block.

Not trying to stir anything up but I understand that the 58 Plymouth V800 had a 2 x 4 bbl manifold and that 3 x 2bbl manifolds were available in the aftermarket. Maybe a single 4 bbl 301 manifold is lurking out there on eBay.

Brian, the link I provided from Chrysler Power is for the "A" block poly motor, not the 318 LA motor.

Regular Posts: 65 | Just speaking from experience like I said. I've seen many vendors offer many things and gone through too many returns to be worth mentioning at this point. IMHO - Better off buying a period correct HEMI or just going modern. Nothing worthwhile to be gained from the Poly A unless you are doing it for correctness (In which case modding it wouldn't make sense anyway )

Elite Veteran Posts: 792 Location: Buena Park, CA | The Chrysler Poly manifold will fit as it was designed for the Plymouth based Poly, as will any factory 4 barrel A-Poly manifold, or the Weiand 4 barrel. The duel quad's are pretty easy to find and the Edelbrock 3x2's seem to come in waves.
