I think $785.00 might be closer to reality for this rust bucket.

I had a 300D that had more good floor on it than that one does. But the inner & outer rockers were rusted out on it and mostly missing except the very upper part of them. The car bent in half. The back half of the car sunk 4 to 5 inches in the back so that you didn't have room above the bumper to attach the reverse lights. I tried to lift it back up to weld in some braces, but it didn't work. I guess it had been sitting that way too long. I would have had to bend it backward somehow. But because everything was so crusty, the effort would have just crushed the metal in where I am trying to hold it. In the end, I gave up and scrapped it out. This one *looks* worse than mine, but as long as there is still good structure in the rockers holding it together, it may be OK enough to try and fix it. But this one won't be easy, that's for sure.

A few comments ...

1. Go ahead, try and find another one.

2. That said, you work with what you can find/what survives.

3. Any number of Swedes would not blink over restoring this car.

4. Americans are spoiled and often afraid of really digging in to a deeper project.

5. This car is no worse than mine was.

6. If a 58 Fireflite coupe is THE car one wants, they may be old or dead before a
better example comes along. Project or no, at least they could be working on
a real car, rather than chasing ghosts.
