My friend has owned this early 354 Hemi Marine engine since the early 1960s. It has always been stored inside, and it is in excellent shape! It has an interesting dual 1 bbl intake, a reverser, large water cooled manifolds etc. It is called an "Imperial Marine Engine". I have never seen one before...it was installed in a Detroit Police Boat (twin Engine) this one is standard rotation.

It seems to me that it belongs in a boat, rather than convert it back to passenger use. Does anyone know of a good vintage boat forum to see if there is any interest? Or it could be converted back to Automotive use.

Asking $4,500 OBO

relevant info would be: Salt or fresh water use. For $4,500 it would have to be running like a champ & fresh water use.

Short answer! No!

Not even the block itself will interchange. But, that engine is worth money in the marine trade. I can't help but do a search.

I would have thought that the 354 was only available with twin 4 bbl. Maybe check to see if it is a 331.

Looking at your ID tag, I believe it says 45R0204. The R means that it is a "right" rotating motor (standard direction). Because there is nothing after the 45, other than the R, this motor is a 331, not a 354. So you should make that clear to potential buyers.

I own a 354 marine motor too that was the standard rotation side of a twin-engined boat. The block is usable in any car as long as the salt water hasn't eaten away the passages, and is perfectly compatible with all the aftermarket stuff out there. The only real issue is the crank isn't compatible, and will likely need to be welded or junked in order to use it outside the boat application. Of course, nearly everything else isn't compatible either like the cam, timing chain set, distributor, and everything external to the block & heads except for the intake. The water pump setup on these are the same as the older 331 pumps like on the '51-'54 motors, so setups that work for them, will work on this too.

One bonus to these motors is that they come with adjustable rockers. That's where I got my set.
