Does anyone have a preferred vendor for trunk seals? When I bought my car it came with a new replacement trunk seal, but it is about 8 inches short. Previous owner may have ordered one for a different model year.

Thanks.

Gary Goers has a very good 'no leak' trunk seal.

I also used Gary's trunk seal, it's a hollow version and fits very well. It's the best one I've ever used for these cars, and the ONLY one I've used over the years that sealed properly all the way around.

Thanks for the info and pictures. I'll give Gary Goers a try.

I used the solid upgraded version of Gary and i remember Gary every time I try to close the trunk and I can not do it. It is hard solid.

The replacement seal that came with my car (uninstalled) is also a solid seal. I could see how a solid seal could potentially cause a problem with closing the trunk.

Just as Ian, I have the newest type from Gary Goers, hollow and very smooth.

I had to grind up evacuation holes so that the air could escape when closing the lid and adjust the trunk lid height slightly.

Not a drop of water enters now…..

Thanks Sven for the tip on letting the air escape.

I like the way both you and Ian finished off the inside of your trunks. Did either of you continue to finish off or enclose the long inside area of the trunk behind the license plate? Also, are you able to fit your spare behind the top gray panel?

If you mean the two panels on each side of the license plate recession, yes, there I have them and mounted them - I could take some photos if you would like.

I have no spare wheel anymore - it took up way too much space in my trunk. Below, please find the links to the trunk bunk and the emergency kit...

Yes, that's the area I was referring to. I can see you finished off that area on one of the additional photos just behind the fire extinguisher. If you have any pictures of that rear section I'd liked to see how you did that. I plan on finishing off my trunk too and like the way you did yours.

The trunks in these cars have a lot of space where things can roll into and get lost. That rear area to the lights is one of them.

Zak

Thanks.

Those cardboard panels was mounted on the '60 Chryslers, but I think that the '61 Chryslers didn't have them. At the moment my panels are black (the original ones was torn and mushy) but they will be painted gray.

Thank you for posting the pics, those rear panels look really nice. I agree, I don't think the '61 had rear panels, but they do look nice and will keep things from getting lost back there.
