I thought it was a good idea to create a list of local vendors that people have had good experiences with. My experience is mostly with Los Angeles, Kern and San Bernardino counties. People in San Luis Obispo, Irvine or San Diego could create their own list, or include it here as well. This list only includes those places that I have personally had a good experience with, and that I recommend for people to use. You can enclose your text with [letter B] and [/letter B] to create bold areas, but just put the "B" in the brackets.

Driveshaft Services: Wenco Industries, 16154 Valerio St, Los Angeles.
Knowledgeable and prices are reasonable.

Custom Exhaust Work: Bob's Muffler & Radiator, 1230 E 21st St, Bakersfield, CA 93305.
Amazing work. They cater to the classic car & hot-rod crowd. Excellent work with perfect mandrel bends in steel or stainless. Not terribly expensive if they aren't building the whole system for you. Come early. First come, first served. Just wish they weren't so far away from me.

Torque Converters: Import & Domestic Converters, 17781 Valley Blvd J, Bloomington, CA 92316.
The cheapest for rebuilt converters that I could find, and they were the only ones that could get a push button converter core for me.

A & W Machine, 149 S Irwindale Ave, Azusa, CA 91702
Never used them, but worth a shot.

Upholstery: Jack's Auto Interiors, 18551 Topham St # M, Tarzana, CA 91335.
Good work and reasonable prices.

Sandblasting & Powder Coating: Triple A Coating, 2015 Chico Ave, South El Monte, CA 91733
The best price on powder coating & sandblasting that I have found. Good work too. Minimum batch pricing so bring a bunch at once.

BD & G Sandblasting, 2428 E 54th St, Vernon, CA 90058
They will do larger projects like full fenders & car bodies. Prices are reasonable.

Automotive Machine Shop: Martin Davidson's Automotive, 18410 Gault St, Reseda, CA 91335.
Meticulous and careful. Prices are reasonable.

J & A Engine Rebuilders, 225 S Irwindale Ave, Azusa, CA 91702
Cheap price for valve job & other work. Not sure I would trust them with critical machining though.

Connecting Rod Reconditioning: L & B Con Rod, 1830 S Lewis St, Anaheim, CA 92805
They also do valve jobs, but I didn't use them for that.

Axle Housing Welding & Shortening: None, I had such bad experiences from multiple places that I procured my own equipment and do it myself now. I would do it for you if you help, bring sodas, and good company.

Axle Bearing Replacement: Cook's Machine Works, 4845 Telegraph Rd, Los Angeles, CA 90022.
They will press off the old bearings and press on new ones without cutting up/butchering your axle. They will do housing shortening too, but are too expensive for me to afford.

Lightweight Performance Starters: IMI Performance Products, 13432 Lambert Rd, Whittier, CA 90605.
They make performance starters for most older cars.

Cad, Zinc, Gold or Nickel Plating: GCG Corp. 608 Ruberta Ave, Glendale, CA 91201
Mostly for smaller parts. Good prices and great quality.

Radiator Service: ?? Valley Radiator, 14408 Oxnard St # A, Van Nuys, CA 91401
They were pretty expensive, but were at least willing to re-core an original radiator. Wish I knew a vendor that would actually repair an old core.

Custom Cables: Control Cables Inc. 9816 Alburtis Ave, Santa Fe Springs, CA 90670
They will build a push button or other cable for you, but you need to give them full specs on it.

Speedometer Repair: A-1 Electric & Speedometer, 1610 Artesia Blvd, Gardena, CA 90248
Pretty cheap, fast and did a good job.

Custom Speedometer Cables: Redline Gauge Works, 23347 Newhall Ave, Newhall, CA 91321
Made as you wait, to your spec. Nice. They also rebuild speedometers but are too slow and not cheap.

Leaf Springs: Atlas Spring Co, 127 4th Ave, La Puente, CA 91746
They cater to truck springs, but will make new ones for your car if you provide them with your old springs & specs.

Who do people use to get beads rolled into sheet metal? I am not having much luck finding anyone who can put them in at the original size of 3/4". Anyone who I have found can only do 1/2" and small depth as well.

Rebuilt Steering Box & Power Steering Pump:

BZ Rebuilders, 7745 Alabama Ave unit 2, Canoga Park, CA 91304 They rebuilt the power steering gear box on my '58 Fireflite and did a good job. They were also quick, but maybe a little expensive.

A&D Auto Rebuilders, 1600 Oregon Ave, Long Beach, CA 90813 Also said they could do it, but were further away from me.

USA Rebuilders, 13609 Crenshaw Blvd, Hawthorne, CA 90250 These guys might be an option as well.
