Absolutely gorgeous. That black on deep dark red looks so good on it. Don't know enough about these to say if the price is right or how faithful the restoration was. Does anyone know who's signature is on the glovebox?

That's Jay Leno's signature. The car is a Regal (I think) and based on the 2 x 4bbls it's more than a D500, i.e. Super D500 (??)

One of my all time favorite cars, maybe the ultimate, along with a GC 60 coupe, but it shows how stupid those fat tires look on a FL that almost stick out of the wheel housings.

Somebody want to tell the seller that he doesn't need the OE vacuum can with his new PB set up?

Tires that almost stick out of the wheel housings? I have no idea what you are talking about. They look good to me. In fact, he picked his tire & wheel combo based on what he saw from my car. But he chose to put trim rings on them too, whereas I didn't.

This is Per's car. He works for Jay. Weird that he would sell it only a year after he finished it. This car isn't restored. It's more of a resto-mod with upgraded engine bay parts & non-original paint and interior & whatever else he wanted to upgrade on it. The paint color is a redish-copper color. Some of the pictures make it look darker than it really is. He does really good work so I am sure the quality of work on this is very good, but it wasn't built to be correct. I am not certain if it is a real D500, although I know he bought the car with the 361 motor already in it. You would need to verify it with the data tag if that is important to you. The front power windows are an add-on as the car didn't come with them. I don't know why he didn't do the same with the rears.

Very nice!  The car appears to be a Coronet done up as a Regal with spring special trim.  The interior door panels appear to be unique as a combination of the Regal colors and fabrics mixed with the Coronet design.  The dual antennae are after-market.  My guess is that this is a complete fantasy car - that probably would extend to the engine.  It was certianly a Coronet, but I doubt it was originally either a spring special or a D500.  In my estimation, the Jay Leno signature doesn't add up to the asking price, but I'm getting out-of-touch with all that stuff.  The car looks great, but in my out-of-touch estimate - it might be worth about half the asking price.

Resto-mod.

Definitely Spring Special trim on a Coronet (but no fin caps or special license plate frame), but the interior is straight out of a Regal Lancer. Weird that the front windows are power while the rear are manual - you'd think the owner would go power all around.

Definitely do your homework on this one before shelling anything out.....

Absolutely beautiful car.

I don't see the need to say "buyer beware." It's a well-built dual quad big block '58 Dodge that's obviously not factory correct. If you don't like how it was modified, then buy it and spend 100k restore it "properly"!

I was there during the entire restoration of this car. It was an original D-500 Coronet. I know because I took the 500 emblem off when we disassembled the car. It came out of the California desert and needed a little bit of metal work, but overall was a very nice car to start with. This car was done as a VERY nice daily driver since Per doesn't like to let his cars sit around. I think he is selling it to move onto other projects.

The color is a custom mix. It looks like a bright copper in the sun and a darker red/copper in the shade. The paint and body are as good as you will ever see. Something happened with the spray gun during the painting process when he first painted it. As a result, he repainted the entire car because he wanted it to be perfect. He liked the Spring side trim, so he put it on. He liked the Regal interior, so he made it look similar. He wanted dual rear antennae but didn't want to spend a fortune on originals, so he went with a simple aftermarket set. He was careful to position them in the original locations - in case a future owner wants to install an original set. I found the correct hub caps for him and he installed the wheel and tire combo because Nathan's car looked great with it. Per also hates cleaning whitewalls... so this was a perfect solution. The rear tires don't "stick out." They are 15x8s in the rear and 15x7s in front. The Coronet drives like a new car because it is.

The engine is the original D-500 361. Per added the dual quads. The power windows are front only, but this was only because converting the manual mechanisms to power actuation was impossible. We tried. It's set up so the stock power rear tracks can be installed if they are ever found. The canister for the booster is there only because it did't hurt anything to include it.

The car is fast, comfortable, tight, rides well, stops great, and looks amazing... especially in the sun. It's a true labor of love and built by someone who knows exactly what he is doing.

There are people who can find fault in pretty much anything these days. This car wasn't built to compete at Pebble Beach. It was built to drive to the beach. It's a fresh restoration and the price is a decent value if you're looking for a new 1958 Dodge you can buy and drive home... even if home is 3000 miles away.

There is an amazing amount of work and money in that car, and if Jay's body guy did it, you know its right.

Still listed for $53,000 and no takers yet. Prices are really starting to fall on these cars.

kind of hard to say that. This is a owners specific restomod.

I believe for that kind of money it needs to be 100% original.

Fix antennas, change out rims for hubcaps, do a little tweaking under the hood,(original radiator). not sure if regal lancer interior screws up value?

Maybe ditch the spring special trim, its a little big for some people.

I thought this is a car he wanted like he wanted it to keep, but of course things change.

Im doing something similar because I want the car like I want it and hopefully keep for quite a long time.

I'm making a regal lancer clone with a 392 hemi in mine, posi, disc brakes, custom seats, etc etc etc...
