Member Posts: 34 | Up for sale is my 1955 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer. My father and I purchased this car in the mid 80s as a father son project. At the time it had been parked since 68 as the original hemi had spun a bearing. We rebuilt the hemi, gave the car its first and only repaint, recovered the seats and drove the car sparingly. Three years ago I replaced the drivetrain with a ford 8.8 rear end (3:73 gears, traclock differential) and a 440 / 727 combination. At that time the car was also converted to 12 volt and 4 wheel disc brakes. The car is a very nice driver with approximately 110,000 miles since new. The trim is all original driver quality with the exception of the rear bumper which has been rechromed. There is one very small rock chip in the windshield that has been there as long as we have owned the car, otherwise the tinted glass is all good. One rocker panel has some rust damage below the trim that is not visible unless you crawl under the car. Otherwise this is an extremely solid and original car. The current 440 sports a big cam, headers and closed chamber heads. The 727 is freshly rebuilt with performance upgrades and a high quality high stall torque converter. It is not for the faint of heart. Asking 32,500 USD, at the asking price I will include the original hemi engine and drivetrain. This car is not cut up and could be returned to stock if desired. I can assist with delivery to Vancouver BC or Oroville WA, the car is currently located in Kelowna British Columbia. Expert 5K+ Posts: 9855 Location: Lower Mainland BC | Great looking 55. Nice to see the engine bay still occupied by a Mopar engine too. Good luck with your sale. I am in New Westminster with a 56 Dodge Custom Royal D500 (315 hemi) sedan. I know of a bone stock 55 Custom Royal Lancer 270 hemi (now with 4 bbl) that was in North Van now in Surrey (or Richmond) and that is about it for 55s and/or 56s in the Lower Mainland. (BUT I don't know everything) Can you post larger photos of your car at the drag strip? (Please). My car last year: Edited by 56D500boy 2018-10-17 12:55 AM

Member Posts: 34 | Nice 56! There is supposed to be a 55 convertible in the lower mainland, a long dormant project that I have heard of several times. I think that it is in New Westminster? There is also a 56 Plymouth with a volare clip that I know of, and another 55 Dodge here in Kelowna with a chev clip and engine. Ugh. I will try the pics again, I resized them too small the first time. Sort of a dream for me, i.e. smoking my tires. Oh well. At least I have your photo. The 55 Convertible is a Custom Royal Lancer and is owned by my New Old Stock parts guy Ron W. in Coquitlam. I see it everytime that I go see him. It's very nice or will be. No interior or top yet. 270 hemi with the 4 bbl and intake from a 1954 241 Indy Pace Car Dodge Royal. There is another 56 Custom Royal sedan in Richmond but I haven't actually see it yet. And then Kent K. in Victoria has his new to him 56 Custom Royal 4dr Lancer that he recently bought from the Okanagan. The 55 that I mentioned is shown below. Member Posts: 34 | Yes that is the convertible that I have heard of. I didn't realize last night that your 56 was a D500. I believe that I have seen your car before and even have a picture of it somewhere from a car show and auction in Richmond in the late 80s or early 90s. Back then I also heard of a 56 D500 convertible on saltspring island, I did go looking for it at one time but never could track it down. Probably it is long gone now. I see you also have the police rims, I think that they are a great addition.

Not sure about a D500 convertible but there is a 56 D500 La Femme 2dr Hardtop hiding (and rusting) away somewhere on one of those Gulf Islands. (I've met the owner and seen photos). If you have photos of my car from the 1980's I would love to see them. It was owned by a fellow in New Westminster named Alan Cruickshank and he had bought it about 1988 at an auction in Seattle. It came up here and was stored in an underground highrise parkade until I bought it in 2016. Supposedly it was pulled out once and a while to appear in a movie or two. It had gone 250 miles since its previous oil change in 1992 when I got it. Check your private messages for my email address. It's the same car. I only wish that it looked like that when I found it in the basement parking of a highrise, under a polypropylene tarp. Sitting around for 25 plus years didn't make it better. I am just now getting it back to that condition (or a bit better in some ways). The day my car was towed out of the highrise underground lot: Edited by 56D500boy 2018-10-20 4:04 PM

Expert Posts: 2289 Location: Eastern Iowa | I think we should start a 55/56 Dodge only thread. What do you think, Dave? You already have a few pictures of mine ,'back in the day'!! Geesh, how I loved that car!!! My only regret was screwing it all up the way I did. Blame it on Young and Dumb I guess. But getting hooked up with an Army buddy tat wore ovals and bow ties had a lot to do with that as well. Edited by finsruskw 2018-12-31 2:11 PM
