Location: Lower Mainland BC | The recent Super D500-1 seems to but yet one example.
Not sure how you get 367 hp out of a 325 hemi even with two 4 bbl carbs. Factory said it was 310 hp.
I am sure that the D501 with the 354 had more the 310 hp but the engine in the current eBay advert is NOT a 354 as far as a I can tell. (But I might be wrong )
354 valve covers are different than the 325 (or 315) valve covers:
(Left = supposed D501, Right = recent eBay Super D500-1)
The owner of my 56 D500 Dodge tried to sell it as an Indy Pace car back around 1990. His auction placard had many "errors" (fibs/lies)
For example, the pistons are still flat tops, the D500 was NOT the Indy Pace car (ever), it might have been a fast production car in 1956 (more hp than even a 2 x 4 bbl Corvette) and the California Highway Patrol loved them in 1956 but that would not be true for 10 years, the seat belts that came in the car were NOT factory (aftermarket), and I am not sure about the "never smashed". (I think there was a light hit at the right front at some point). Not much rust (one or two perforations that I have found and at least one of the outer rockers was replaced).
Or NOT.
I MIGHT BE WRONG
