Veteran Posts: 112 Location: lafayette,La. | I have had no luck finding parts at the different venders using the part number for the part list. Example on the print suspension I need the strut item 2-10-58 and look up the part number 1672963 but when I go to the different venders the parts are never available it does not seem to correspond to the part numbers they use???? Any suggestions Thanks Jerry

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9854 Location: Lower Mainland BC | Jerry: You likely have the correct part number 1672 963 corresponding to the 2-10-58 strut for full sized Desotos and Chryslers in the parts diagram (below). The problem is (in my opinion) that the strut was NOT a wear item, i.e. it should last the life of the car, not withstanding an accident that bends it. As a result, the typical after market suppliers, e.g. Moog, TRW, etc. would NOT likely have made and sold spares. I think you will have to go to a known used parts source like John at Big M in California (or somebody closer to you). Expert Posts: 2289 Location: Eastern Iowa | Wear item or not, it still would be a "crash part " and available in the day. Most stuff like that now days has no part number tag attached, was probably never in a box w/a number and thus becomes un-identifiable. Once that happens, it is just so much junk to cart around to swap meets hoping against hope some one will recognize it and offer a few bucks for it. Kinda like exterior trim one sees by the barrel full at big swap meets. I have some of tat myself that will soon find its way into the next car body my son sends down the road to the crusher. BTW, What car does this part fit?? Edited by finsruskw 2018-11-29 7:07 PM

The part number that Jerry seeks, 1672 963, is the left strut for a 57-58 (or later) full-sized Desoto and/or Chrysler. Plymouth and Dodges and lesser Desotos and Chryslers had different PNs (presumably because they were smaller/shorter).
