Has anyone in here mounted the Wilwood/Magnumforce kit Z-140-14227?
The 11.75 C body 57-64 original spindle kit & If so i wonder how you like it besides the cost? if somone chim in i have more precise questions in my pocket!

I believe I have this kit/setup on my '57 Chrysler.
It was installed before I bought the car .

Brake performance is very good. Even with the stock booster.
Also at higher speeds you can feel the brakes grab firmly on the rotors and slow down the car quickly.

I dont know, the brake caliper look awfully small. My CBR1000RR has bigger brakes than those. Why nobody does a double caliper set up? calipers are cheap!

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but that Wilwood kit is everything BUT the caliper bracket. It is a "customer supplied" caliper bracket and caliper mounting hardware. It's the very same parts as in a B body kit from a decade later unless the Wilwood part numbers are wrong

Yes, the bracket is not included.


I contacted SSBC company and they carry a double piston that fit the 14" rim, the problem with them is that the whole set up is a in-house design including the calipers. The only thing interchangeable with other brands are the pads.
The whole kit is $1000,00, if i ever try disc brake this will be the only one. Also Important 100% made in USA.

Why not Wilwood? Its a 4 piston fixed caliper, time and raceproven, in use in 100 000s of cars made in the USA. I use identical calipers since the 90s or 100 000+ miles with absolutely ZERO problems. Lightweight and strong with stainless steel pistons and under $1000.

The SSBC use a cheap and HEAVY one piece steel disc/hub. Wilwood is aluminum lightweight hub, 2 piece. That means you don't have to trash the bearings and all when you just need new discs.

I like the Wilwoods better than the SSBC honestly. I have SOME experience with SSBC but lots with Wilwood. I like the Wilwood stuff.

-No bracket provided.
-Need five new rims and tires. (that is going to be pretty expensive)
-they are actually not listing any kits for any of my 3 cars.
-most of the hardware is not included.
-cars are over 4000 pounds, almost 5000 with the Imperial., I don't think that an aluminum caliper and adapter would do much difference

According to you, I can use the same hubcaps but I don't want to found that in Argentina. The hubcaps are attached to the outer rim.

Unsprung weight does not care what the rest of the car weights, sure it is less noticeable in a heavy car, but safety wise unsprung weight offers te same benefits in a heavy car as in a lighter car. Same is true for rotating mass for performamce/fuel mileage gains.
I wouldn't be surprised if the SSBC kit is heavier than the OE system.
