Gorgeous!!! Guy upgraded it to disc brakes and that master cylinder looks aftermarket. Comes with the stock wheels and caps if you want to return it to a stock look. Under the hood looks good as well, steel braided lines and hoses with electronic ignition. Has after market 4bbl. The only thing I'd do to this is get rid of the two extra gauges on the dash and find a less conspicous air cleaner to give it a slightly more stock look under the hood.

Also, about the hemi. Could you order Firesweeps with hemis or is this a swap? If it's a factory hemi, how rare is this?

I know nothing but I *think* that, because the Firesweeps were the lowest level Desoto model, they normally came with a 325 2 bbl poly in 1957.

We've been over this before ....

Firesweeps are Dodges with some DeSoto sheetmetal and the
low end DeSoto interior. They were built on the Dodge assembly
lines and every bit of the chassis, brakes, and drivetrain is pure
Dodge. Thusly, no Firesweep ever left the factory with a DeSoto
engine, namely a Hemi.

Which is what I thought, i.e. the 325 was the poly 57 Dodge engine. The 4 bbl 341 was obviously a hemi. However what about the 2 bbl 341? Was that a poly or hemi?

I have never cared for cars after about 1930 and before fins, so I cannot say
when this began, but Mopar offered a package referred to as something like "the
Power Pack" that upgraded the carb from a base 2bbl and the exhaust from single
to duals on the low end model cars. This was certainly the case with a Firedome
in 57, but I will have to plead ignorance on the 'Sweep. Being that Dodge offered
4bbl's on the 325, I will assume the 'Sweep could be ordered that way too.

This car looks like a well put together "bitsa" car, where the builder took bits of
this and bits of that to make what they wanted, or simply put the car together with
parts available to them. It happened/happens a LOT !

It looks to me like a Firesweep that someone decided to increase the value by dropping a Firedome hemi in it. just quessing

I believe the 4bbl power pak option began its roots in 1954 but was very limited. It became more common in 1955.

I would believe that. The 54 Dodge Indy Pace Car had a 4 bbl (and maybe duals) but the brochures make no mention of Power Pack.

By 1955, the engines were "Power came from either a 230 cu in (4 L) flathead straight six or one of two 270 cu in (4 L) V8s. The regular Red Ram V8 was standard on the Royal and optional on the Coronet. A hemi V8 (the Super Red Ram) was standard on the Custom Royal. A rare Power Pack was optional, consisting of a four-barrel Carter carburetor and dual exhausts good for 193 hp (144 kW; 196 PS) with the Hemi engine."

*In fact* the 193 hp Power Pack option was mentioned in a special "box" on the brochure (lower left corner below):

Finally, by 1956 the Power Pack was totally "out" as the 230 hp (instead of the 2 bbl 218 hp) "Super-Powered Super Red Ram" (315 poly).

When I was in the parts business, these differences and understanding
interchangeability were critical knowledge when hunting and buying parts.
Helped with the selling too.

I found that as one walked up the ladder from Plymouth to Imperial, the
level of goodies and options increased relatively, so things like Power Pack
equipment was a lot harder to find on a Plymouth than it was on say, a
Firedome.

One time a guy came to me looking for a 4bbl set up for his 56 Plymouth.
He offered me stupid money, if I could find one. The kicker for him was the
air cleaner. Knowing what other cars those parts might be found on, I was
able to come up with his parts. He was thrilled.
