This car is a one family car that is finally receiving the attention she deserves. Was fortunate to find a body man who understood the importance of the car to our family and what a rare vehicle it is. He's doing a great job in returning the car to her glory and we are looking forward to a lot of rides in the future. For the back story on the car check out the Hemming's article done about the car in 2005 and enjoy these photos of our progress so far. We'll update the photos as we progress.

Nice story, Jim. Your son must be old enough to drive it by now.

I recommend replacing the 60+ year old wiring harness. This was the last year of the cloth wire in Chrysler product cars. It's likely brittle, with lots of exposed wire. An invitation for a fire.

Thanks for the note. He is, but the car scares the hell out of him. Not used to no power anything.

I have a complete YNZ wiring harness including the convertible wiring harness ready to go. It's the next project after we get the car back.

Nice car!
Might be worth hunting down the used parts and adding power steering. We have a car with manual brakes and those are no problem, but no power steering is a real pain!

I was going to convert my '56 Plymouth to power steering, but I really don't mind it as much as I thought I would. It really isn't that hard to handle because there is quite a bit of leverage with the large wheels and high ratio steering gear.

Picked up the Belvedere from the body shop today. Couldn't be happier with the results, especially the decision to go with the white convertible top rather than the original black.
