I have a question about the mirror-matic, I have followed the installation instructions but it does not seem to work,
I have heard from some people that it has to be installed differently from what the instruction say, Its going into my 1958
Plymouth Belvedere, any suggestion ...Cheers PS the Mirrior is NOS

Nice! If you connected the power feed to the "H", the Mirrormatic works only with the headlights on (as it should).
Mind that there are some time before the tube is warm and ready.

cover the mirror with a black cloth and switch on the headlights - wait 2-3 minutes, lift the cloth slightly and direct a flashlight beam towards the photocell.

If it doesn't work, check the ground circuit. If it still doesn't work you need to open it up and check the tube connections for bad contacts.

Once again thank you Sven, I will probably need your help again later on in the year for the 1958 Perfect Circle Cruise Control,

Thanks Sven

No problems Roberto!

I don't know if you have a daylight dipped beam law - if so, then you should add a toggleswitch for to switch of the Mirror-Matic during daytime. The "OFF" position only switch off the photocell, the rest of the circuit is always on when the wire is connected to 12VDC (The "H" terminal is 12VDC when the dipped beam/high beam is on)

I somewhere still have a hollow shaft left for these, no need to drill thru the dash. The wire really looks terrible, imo.

Check if the base is well grounded ! You can test it with a +12v wire hooked to the Mirrormatic wire but don't forget to ground the base . Beware of some insulation between base cup and ball. If you test in the journey ther's enough light to switch the Mirrormatic to non glare position.
I made some tests with the Mirrormatic some years ago so i have pics of the inside. Itsn't very difficult to open it.

Aunt Jemenias maple syryp comes to my mind.....
It was used for to get the stem in the wanted position.
Such a trick could ruin good grounding.

Sid do you still have one and can it be used on a 1958 Dodge Dash

Cheers

Yes, but I'm a parts messy. I have no idea right now where to look. IIRC, it was with a painted 58/59 base, not from a 60/61. I'm planing some clean up coming spring.
