That C, according to 300 club records, was originally Copper Brown metallic when new.
Go to all that trouble, and than paint the car a non original color.
There are tons of black C's and only a handfull of them the original Copper Brown Metallic!
Go figure!!

The D was originally black when new.

I'm not saying there is anything wrong here, but what would explain the VIN tag on the D looking so?

I'm not saying there is anything wrong here, but what would explain the VIN tag on the D looking so? Did they blow out the spot weld on the first try at the factory and had to redo it? Or something else?

it looks like it, welding stainless to painted metal was a seriously bad idea. Really wish these guys would have used pop rivets in addition to spot welding.

They weren't forward looking on their vin attachment like rust proofing in 57
