I am writing an illustrated history of automotive factory air conditioning, spanning 1953-1960.

Each chapter will feature legible, full-color, A/C-related, brochures, data book information, owner's manuals, dealer bulletins, etc. in large 8.5x11-inch format.

I seek good condition, factory-equipped airtemp-conditioned Mopar cars from 1953-1960 to spotlight in each chapter. In doing so, I would work with you and request images of the A/C components, interior and exterior views, and suggest resolution required for publication.

I also seek more A/C-related literature for the 1953-1960 years.

Thank you,
archiveman2977
I live in central Texas, near Austin

Awesome! I have a 1959 Dodge with Factor A/C, all original, with Level Flight Rear Air Spring suspension. I'm struggling to find a guide on how, exactly, the belts are supposed to be arranged in this configuration. I think the GJM 8001A is missing a pulley, because the compressor has Double V Pulley, but Generator does not. Once I get this ironed out, I'll send images.

Looking forward to seeing your book!!!

Hello,
Are you still working on this project? If so I just purchased a 1958 Dodge Royal with Factory air.

Hi Ron, dpolara,

First, my apologies for this delayed response. I have concentrated on Volume 1, Factory Air: Cool Cars in Cooler Comfort that features 1940-1942 Packards, 1941 Cadillacs, and 1941-1942 Chrysler cars with factory air. Publication is scheduled before 2021 ends.

If you are still interested in sending me images, email me at autoarchivebookspecialties@gmail.com. There we can discuss your 1959 Dodge more fully.
What model is it? The small image looks like a yellow/black color.

Full disclosure for you, I will begin to write Volume 2 as soon as Volume 1 is published, hopefully before this year is over. Volume 2 will cover the AC reintroduction of eight 1953 AC cars.

Volume 3 will cover 1954-1956 AC cars.

Volume 4 will cover 1957-1960 AC cars.

Although your Dodge may be featured in Volume 4, please consider contacting me. As an illustration, I already have images of a 1953 Packard and a 1954 Pontiac with factory air that will be in future volumes. Sure enough, I called each man to chat more about their cars, and it seems that each man had offers that they could not refuse! The 1953 Packard is now in South America and the 1954 Pontiac is somewhere in Great Britain! So, if you are still interested, I would welcome your images.

Thanks again for your reply. I hope to hear from you in my email of autoarchivebookspecialties@gmail.com.

Hi Lucas, Imctaggart,

Thanks for your reply. Yes I would like to have more information about your 1958 Dodge with AC.

I am finishing up Volume 1 of Factory Air: Cool Cars in Cooler Comfort that covers factory AC in 1940-1942 Packards, 1941 Cadillacs, and 1941, 1942 Chrysler cars. I will publish Volume 2, 1953 AC cars, then Volume 3 that covers 1954-1956 AC cars. Volume 4 will cover 1957-1960 AC cars.

Although your 1958 Dodge may be featured later on, I already have images stored for future volume editions for a 1953 Packard and a 1954 Pontiac with AC. Luckily I have their images because both have been sold to men with offers that the owners could not refuse! So, if we are agreeable, it may be best to contact me now at my email, autoarchivebookspecialties@gmail.com.
