So after sitting on it for awhile I've finally got around to getting started on it. This is the car I bought from Kurt (aka, 58DeSoDodge59), see this thread.

I dropped by Desert Valley Auto Parts in Arizona and picked up some panels to patch holes around the base of the rear window and rear pillars. Also managed to get most of the rear wells though someone beat me to the punch with the trunk floor and rear part of the rear wheel wells. A got a front fender from a New Yorker too to patch the giant caved in portion above my driver's side headlight. It came with the inner fender, and I hoping it will work on my Desoto. Also spotted a new arrival at their yard, a pretty beat up 58 Firesweep 4D hardtop.

Have you thought about what color you might paint it?

So here's an update I posted in an unrelated thread:

I ran into an issue with some of the metal I got; I didn't realize that the C pillars on two door and four door hardtops were different sizes!

It's going to be blasted and primered hopefully by the end of July, and I will be driving through Arizona again next month so I will make a stop at DVAP for rockers and probably another canopy and the rest of the rear floors. My mechanic's metal guy suggested media blasting would be the best way to determine where we need to make cuts and ensure that we are welding to good metal and to make sure that the metal work where the body is mounted to the frame is done in a way that is structurally sound and can properly support the body.

And yes, I am very tempted to do something similar with the paint as this car. It's subdued, yet still stands out in a way that looks very unique and clean.

As for the picture I am referring to:

I really like this color combo! It stands out without standing out if that makes any sense.

Very classy and understated imo.
