Yes, they will need that time due to that they only work part time with the IBM cards

I have not confirmed this yet, but I do believe that they will send you the real IBM card now.

I will get one that I ordered for a friend in the near future, so I'll be back with more info then

Wiz, all they ever had from the time of the builds was a microfiche tape taken as the cards were created. Originally cards were destroyed.

Ok, thanks' that means that they will keep the microfiches - I thought that they were getting rid of the records.

They just send you a copy of the card and they tell you the dealer (if they have it). No more decodes.

Has anyone ever put a thread together with all the codes and their meanings? It would be extremely beneficial if we could decode these IBM cards ourselves...

In terms of IBM cards, all FCA has is what is on microfiche (film). The actual cards are long gone. Post up what you got along with a clear photo of the metal build tag on the cowl area under the hood (somewhere).

We (somebody here) will try to help you figure it all out.

Wow. That image is terrible. I captured it and tried to make it better but it is terrible. How are you getting it from the hardcopy that FCA sent you to the digital image?

The image I got from FCA for my 56 Dodge was much better.

Like this (I think I high resolution scanned it and then brought it down to less than 250 kB to work here):

hi dave, I used my cell phone to take the pic then loaded it on my pc. my image from fca is pretty clear. I think its in the photo sizing is where the fuzziness is coming from

You haven't shown (or I haven't seen a photo of your car) but based on the limited information that I can see from the IBM card, your car is a 1955 Dodge Custom Royal that was originally all (single tone) 501 (or "01") Jewell black. I don't know 55 trim codes. (Sorry)

The engine that it left the factory with was D553-12136 (which I think would be the 270 cu inch Super Red Ram Hemi (??))

It looks like your car was scheduled to be build on Nov. 22, 1954 and it was built on or about Nov. 20, 1954 and shipped on Nov. 26, 1954.
