hello, was checking the operations of my newly wired dash (55 dodge custom royal) was wondering how the ignition key light is supposed to work. when I turn the headlight switch to park it comes on but when it is switched to headlight it goes out. checked the terminal at the headlight switch and it corresponds. I assume this is the way it operates? any input would be appreciated!!!

That is the way my 1956 Dodge ignition "lock" light works too. Off when the headlights are off, ON when the headlights are turned to "PARK" and OFF when the headlights are turned to ON (at which point the park lights also go off and are only lit by the turn signal switch). Follow the "P" (= Park) position wires on the ignition switch in the diagram below.
