I re wired all of the ignition and charging tests fine. New plugs and wires about a week ago. Has been driving fine drove to work this morning and the car started, idled and ran fine until I got off of the freeway and stopped at a few stop lights. Now the car will start but if I don't give it a little gas it will stall and die. Where do I start?

The distributor cap doesn't seem to be arching(i work inside of a garage with low light easy to see sparks), and it starts immediately which leads me to think it's not the points or condenser.

It's getting fuel and I can rev the engine up easily and seems to run smooth when accelerated, possibly some kind of air mixture screw?

The vacuum line to the distributor is a hard line and hasn't been tampered with.

HELLLLLPPPPP I'm pulling hair out at this point...

There might be dirt in the carburetor, in the idle channells. Try to remove the air mixture screws andcheck the needles for evidence of dirt. If so, the best thing is to pull the carburetor and do a full cleaning with new gaskets and wear parts.

Ok currently at work, I will pull the air mixture screws, It's the 1 or 2 barrel stock carb so it should only have 1 correct?

there seem to be two and forgive my ignorance, I only have experience with Holley style 4 bbl. I will probably have to wait for after work to pull them when I can get the car back to the house in case I can't get the screws back to the proper adjustment.

pretty sure the float was stuck I tapped it around the inlet for the fuel line with a screw driver ( past experiences gave me the idea ) and she smoothed out and is idling properly. Do they have a carb rebuild kit that is easily purchased for these?

Do you have a part number for that? I searched it and they have the motor but no rebuild kits listed under it.

Hmm seems discontinued at RockAuto.

Try http://www.carburetion.com/carbinf.htm
Or https://www.carburetor-parts.com/

I'd think Daytona Carburetor would have it, of course you will need the model number.

You should be able to order one from Napa auto parts if you know the carb number.

Not sure what carb. you have on there so I don't know where the number is but if you have a service manual it will tell you what number it should be and you can double check the carb's number.

I don't have a service manual yet, I am getting things as my paycheck and time allows. I'm new to this era of cars and I'm not as set up as most of the older crowd that picks them up aka I'm POOR lol

Dude: Service manual pdf is free. Go here:

http://www.mymopar.com/index.php?pid=109

Click on and download the 55 and 56 Plymouth Factory Service Manual (90 Mb so to a computer, not a phone).

Open the pdf and then save it a directory on your computer for future access.

Sure. There are many options including a very reasonable OE manual for US$22.95 plus minor shipping that you should snap up:

You won't find a cheaper factory service manual than the one I linked you too.
