Which vacuum advance do I need for a 1957 Dodge Sierra, 325 cuin. ,2brl. Distributor # IBP 4002.

I see them on E-bay saying "will fit 1957 Dodge V8" among others but don't mention the distributor number.

They are some aftermarket numbers like VC21 and others.

I would like something a little more positive like knowing a number for the vacuum advance, aftermarket or original.

If anybody replaced one where did you buy it?

Thanks.

I think the vacuum chamber you seek has a PN of 1818 569. See below (all the PNs for the bits inside the IBP-4002 distributor).

Thanks, that may help if the listings of the aftermarket parts show the Mopar numbers too.

It's a good starting point.

Sorry. I thought that you had access to a 55-58 Mopar Parts catalogue. In there it lists the IBP-4002 as the 1689 319 Distributor which is the distributor for the 57 Dodge D66, D67, D70 and D71 engines as well as the Desoto S27 Firesweep engine.

On that basis, and cross checking what a VC-21 aftermarket vacuum advance works on, it seems to be the one you are looking for:

I didn't know where to look to cross-check the factory numbers to an aftermarket part and I didn't want to trust "fits all 1957 Dodge 8"

Where did you get the information?

Thank you for taking the time to post the information.

If you look at the hand written info on at least 2 of those three New Old Replacement Stock (NORS) boxes, I am pretty sure you are only a few clicks away from having your "new" vacuum advance.
