Just got this auto trans from a old closed auto repair shop. Looks to 50s Chrysler? 8 bolts on the converter.
Just wondering what it fits? Says bonnalite on tail shaft housing. Looks to be in good condition if anybody needs it?

look for a stamped 7 digit part number along the sides of the bottom rail of the main case.
Should be a 7 digit number stamped there and it would I.D the unit for applications to be found in the parts book.

In the 55-58 Mopar Parts Manual, it says that the 1530 857 transmission case extension was for the 55-56 Plymouth, Dodge, Desoto and Chrysler 6 cyl and 8 cylinder 2 spd Powerflites. I see air-cooling vents on the bellhousing and no oil cooling lines on the left side of the transmission so I would *guess* that this is an air-cooled Powerflite not used in the larger Chryslers and Imperials, i.e. everything else in 55-56 (or ??).

I didn't find anything on the number you quote, ie. 1408 240. The "14" implies 1954 but I didn't get any hits, even in the 50-65 Mopar Parts interchange manual.

Good luck.

It's a Powerflite, the external shift lever suggests it's a pre-'56.

Have to do some clean up here. If anybody needs this trans they can have it for FREE. Pick up only Northern California 95407. Looks to be in very good condition.
