I am parting out this '57 New Yorker 4dr hardtop. I will be keeping a lot of the parts for myself, but all of the 4dr specific parts are for sale except the rear window rubber seal. Let me know if you need anything. The bumpers are also for sale, but not sure how to ship large stuff like that. The car has a surprising amount of rust. It must have been close to the beach as a large part of the roof is rusted out along with most seams in the car. The car also has no VIN so that seals it's fate. It was orginally parade green with white top & sweep - just like I am going to paint my 2dr car.

The dash items are for sale as well, but most of the chrome is pitted because of the humid atmosphere where this has been stored. There is also a complete rear air system on the car. That's for sale as well. What is one of these systems worth? It comes with the compressor, condenser & lines too.

Original Mopar wooden blocks!
I think this is the original jack to the car. Can anyone verify it? This is not currently for sale, but I will let people know if I change my mind. It also came with the spare tire cover, which was nice to get.

High output generator is for sale. These were standard on police and other heavy duty applications. It has been taken apart though so keep that in mind. I have no idea of the internal condition.

Hooray! I got the motor to turn! I soaked it with trans fluid & acetone for 2 days and filled the motor with a bunch of used motor oil. Next, I'll drain the crappy oil and refill with good stuff, pull the distributor & intermediate shaft and pump the oil throughout the motor while turning it. Then convert it to electronic ignition with a new intermediate shaft before I attempt to start it. Hopefully I can eventually get it to turn 360 degrees, and hopefully the starter works.

Does anyone know what that big electronic box is next to the auto-pilot unit? I don't see a voltage regulator, but I suspect that's because they removed it when they installed the alternator. Also, is this an original style A/C compressor? It looks a little different than what I expected to see.

The big box turned out to be for an Autronic Eye to automatically dim the headlights. The sensor was mounted on the left side of the dash. This one is for '55-'58 as it doesn't have a sensitivity dial on the back of it and the box is an A/C unit with 2 adjustment knobs. And the eye itself was made to fit a '55 or '56 Cadillac dash.

It has a couple of small dents, but I probably have a couple of other bumpers that don't.

For re-chroming this one would be fine. They are only small dents and easily hammered out before chrome.

This car has the worst A-pillars & roof I have ever seen on a forwardlook. It rusted through multiple layers inside the pillar leaving only the part closest to the interior & windshield still intact. The C-pillars aren't much better either. The roof all along the front, above the windshield is rusted out too. The previous owner was going to make a 4dr convertible out of the car. I don't blame him for wanting to.

Possibly, either that or flood victim. One thing is for sure, it's not from S. California. All the rubber is too good to be from around here.

After I reinforce the back with a couple of braces at the right width, I will salvage what's left of the trunk floor & fuel tube. Then this will get a new floor and turned into a '57 New Yorker couch. I had to take more than I would have liked to out of the back end of the left fin, but it couldn't be helped because I needed that section to repair my 300C. I'll patch this one in to make it look good before it gets painted.

I found 7 coins in the car. The dates on the coins gives an estimate of when the car was last being used. The more coins you find, the more accurate it is - at least for the owner that had a habit of losing his change. These coins date from 1957 to 1977. I also found numerous marbles in very conspicuous places like inside the rear doors & lost under the back seat. Makes me wonder how the kid got them behind the door panels.

Wow that roof is bad!! A shame, these are so rare, I even have a roof I saved from a Desoto, but I see there's rot everywhere else too, in weird places.... Yes that is the original wood block, it was blackened, I've seen 1 or 2 like that in other Mopars of this era

I posted this on Facebook too, this is how I am storing the back clip from this car until I can get to it for real. I braced the backside of it to give it structure, built a platform in the bottom for the seat to rest on and put the front seat from the '57 New Yorker into it with some UV resistant cloth wrapped around it. It makes a nice seat for our backyard barbecue and is surprisingly comfortable for as simple as it is. I will probably take it apart and paint it at the same time that I paint the parade green New Yorker, since I will do this one the same colors - as it was from the factory.

Are the side windows and rear window available and in good shape? Looking to eventually put tinted glass in my '59 Firedome. I'm in So. Cal. also so I could pick up.

The compressor is not an original Chrysler product, but it is original to the aftermarket Mark IV AC unit. I believe York made this style of compressor. Mark IV was an aftermarket a/c unit company started in Oklahoma City in the early 50’s. The name was later bought buy another company in Texas that manufactured two other brands of aftermarket a/c units. Hope this helps.

I had those kicking around in my way for many years, and finally moved them somewhere out of the way. I searched around now and can't find them. If they show up, I will let you know, but BigM probably has them available.

I think that this car was a flood victim, maybe from Hurricane Katrina and was totaled by the insurance company. The engine was full of water when I got it. I drained it all out of there, and was surprised that it didn't really hurt anything. It was heading off on it's way to the crusher when the previous owner coerced it off of the truck with some underhand cash. But as a result, it has no VIN and no data tags. They were physically removed after being processed for scrap, so I never had them.

I don't know why I originally thought this car was Parade Green. I guess it was because of the interior and a couple of lighter looking patches, but looking closely at the paint, my best guess is it was actually the Forest Green color instead.
