Make it if it doesn't exist! Looks amazing... We need more fwl customs. If a car is mess and not worth a resto... Turn it into a resto mod or custom.

My 57 300c will be a custom. My 57 royal is a regal... My 58 belvedere will probably be a resto mod with a modern hemi

Awesome - would like to see more - especially the rear to see what the tail lights look like.

The purist in me says no... but I do like it.

My issue with most customs is do the windows work and can you keep the weather out.

Times are changing. The taste of people seems to influenced by cosmic rays or by something in the drinking water? Only some people seem to be immune? The "Kustoms" of today resemble the new cars. Egg shaped turds.
Gone is the appreciation for crazy jet-age shapes. Cars that look like molten plastic pieces with circular wheel openings seem to be "the thing".... I'm one of those immune and stuck in the 50s forever. Like what ever you will, but if you dig new cars, ****** then buy one and leave the remaining 50s detroit iron alone!

I'm with you Sid........I'm so stuck in the 50's and early 60's.....I was 14 in '62 washing cars at the local Chrysler dealer after school. It stuck then and it's still firmly in place. I drive my '61 Saratoga daily barring blizzards and tsunamis.....here in Western Canada on Vancouver Island there are still a lot of hidden gems tucked away that get driven regularly, I have a few of these time capsules and will always have them.
I have four daughters that say modern cars look like potatoes......and are controlled by unknown forces living in a database. My time, our time, was in the heyday of design and cultural stability compared to the 21st century.....I still sing along to lyrics you can understand and tinker with technology that common sense can deal with.....I've lived in States, the UK, and spent a lot of time in other countries.....I took my '62 300 to the UK....brought it home again to the States when I lived in Pasadena....and ultimately back to Victoria BC.
There ain't nothin' like those years and will likely never be again....in reality though I live for today and enjoy the comfort of my past.....it's nice to have the company of like minded folk on this site...although it doesn't have to..it reminds us that we are a product of a truly fabulous era.....

That is a weird response to a sketch of a 1955 car customized with a 1960 roof.

The car has nearly all its stock trim, the wheels could be the original wheels, and the tires are whitewalls. It looks nothing like any new car.

Maybe a bit harsch, okay, and I've seen worse but no one can denie that the overall appearance/silhouette resembles that of a new car.

Of course the "artist" chose a body style with circular wheel openings and a solid color, like any new car, without any two tone side decoration, the 60 roof is slippery and a great design but adds, in this case, to the new car look.

What is the point of a FL Kustom anyway? If you love the 50s, can you improve that? 2 toned glory with chrome and jet age shapes. I said it before and say it again, you can't fight about personal tastes and you can't teach 50s/mid century design, you either have a sense for it, or you don't. Arguing is pointless.

Thank you. I really liked to read that but we are a dying breed. Our cars and relics of the greatest time period on this planet ever, we have to leave behind. The tought of seeing my beloved Fury cruising around with 22" rims, new car bucket seats, hacked dash, painted in garish colors and "updated" with EFI makes me sick to death. I think I will bury it yards deep before I go.

A dying breed indeed, but not without resource, I've had the same thoughts and feelings as yourself, and have done my best to plan ahead, ensuring that the future fate of these cars is protected.

Nice drawing. Who is the artist? I like it except for the extreme lowering job on it.

Personally, I think it is refreshing to see anyone take an interest in the '55 Imperial/Chrysler. Very few people care what happens to these cars as they are being scrapped on a daily basis; so any interest in them is a good thing. The '55 Windsor likely competes with the Valiant & Lancer sedans as the cheapest, most unloved forwardlook car.

I wouldn't have said a thing without the 60/61 coupe roof, but I know of 4 solid Fury coupes cut into pieces, detroyed, just to get the roof, in one case for a 60s Chevy...
This is sickening, as this involved LOTS of fabrication and modifications, probably more as if the started to build a roof from scratch without sacrificing a restorable FL coupe. It's called metal working skill. In Poland they build complete Rods from flat sheets of metal.

Gottcha, makes more sense why it would hit a nerve for you. I agree that cutting up a coupe is a terrible thing, but sometimes, it is unavoidable anyway. I parted out an extremely rusty 300D and still have the roof from it. Impossible to save it as it had no VIN and was bent in half from the lack of any rockers or body mounts to support it (the rear of the car was 4" too low and resting on the bumper!). Right now I am parting out a very desirable 4dr hardtop 57 New Yorker. It's impossible to save for the same reasons (except it's not bent). I know that people have parted out cars for much less bleak reasons, but I don't think anyone is parting the coupes out now unless there is a very good reason for it. 4dr sedans, on the other hand, still seem to be fair game no matter what shape they are in.

"A Lot" 60 Plymouth coupes with the sky high rear window? You must be kidding. And in my book "a lot" is not enough.
