I am looking for verification on the V8 engine in my 55 Plymouth Belvedere. It is stamped P27-82543. I have been told this is the 260 V8? If so does this denote whether it was a two or four barrel carburetor originally?

What colors were painted on the original engine components?

Thank You

Engine numbers above P27-60201 were 259 CID, 2 or 4 barrel, actually a Dodge built engine as Plymouth V8 engine production line did not start till 1956 when went to 270
I believe engine was silver, rocker covers red and accessories black

Back in the early days of my car, the original owner put an Edelbrock intake with a Stromberg 4 bbl carburetor. If the car was an original 4 bbl, what kind of carburetor would have been on there from the factory? I have an original two barrel with intake and air cleaner that I am putting back on. This car is a 3 speed manual with overdrive. There was a handmade bracket for the overdrive release on the side of the 4 bbl. Can anyone tell me or have pictures of how the overdrive release switch was mounted on the two barrel carburetor? Any information or pictures would be greatly appreciated.
