Location: Chattanooga | What 3 speed manual transmission was used in a big block 1962 Chrysler 300? Was it the same as the 1961 that had the weak syncros? |

| Yes I believe the '62 used the same BorgWarner T-85 manual trans. All I've learnt is they were an extremely strong trans, but not very uyser friendly with a non-synchro (crash) first gear.

Location: Alaska | I don't believe the BW T-85 was ever used in the Chrysler but having never owned or seen a 300 G or H with a manual trans. not sure, just going by parts books. |

Location: NorCal | The '62 300 trans is the same as '61 and it's not a T-85. The T-85 was used in B-bodies and has a side cover, the big car trans is a top loader and has pin synchros.
I've tried unsuccessfully to find out who made the early Mopar 3-speeds. Might be in house made. |

Location: Alaska | They were made by New Process and I believe this was owned by Chrysler at the time. |

Location: NorCal | You're right.
"In 1954, after a succession of owners including Willys-Overland, New Process Gear became a subsidiary of Chrysler Corporation."
The A-745 is identified by a hump in the top cover, so that's what it is. |
