I have an old friend, and former '61 Dodge owner, fairly local to this. He will go have a look at this if anyone is interested.

just out of curiosity because of your user name, how many cars were equipped with a 413 HP in 1961 besides the 300G?

I believe that was a test mule with a 413 and all aluminum (727) Torqueflite. How many? I guess nobody will ever know, as according to Chrysler documents (IIRC) none was ever build, even though old literature and magazines tell you it was an option for Plymouth and Dodge and contemporary magazines mention 413 equipped Dodge Darts and Plymouths.

According to the Darrel Davis book you could find the mention of 413 in literature but none were know built by Chrysler. There were some 61 dodge ramcharger race team cars that had 413, but were most likely dealer installed.
If you knew somebody at Chrysler you could get one dealer installed, but it would not show on build card.
I only guessing here , I wonder if Lee and Richard Pettys 61s were delivered with 413s ? In the famous accident photos it appears to be a 4blb. Why wouldn't the Pettys have used a 2x4 crossram in 61?

As for the 61 dodge convert, that's a great looking car. I like the tri flipper hubcaps! My favorite FL hubcaps

Apollo - NASCAR required single 4 BBL only except in certain circumstances. For example Mopar was allowed to run a dual quad Hemi for a short time in 68.

I remember that 4blb rule now. I had a freind who had a 66 ply original nascar that had the 4blb Hemi with nascar issue air cleaner.
Im also wondering if it was possible for the Pettys to get a factory 413 61 Plymouth and if so would they have gotten a 4 speed version?
If the mention of 413 available in literature was to make them legal for nascar and drag racing?

There was a cubic inch limitation in those days, below 413, don't know exactly the size, guessing 400 cui. The long ram 2x4 was a mid range torque device only, not suited for constant high speed driving.
It is amazing that the Pettys hit 150+ mph with those tiny stock single 4vs and the restrictive stock intake manifolds. Only the exhaust side was allowed to be modified.
