Regular Posts: 53 | Selling my 1960 Desoto Adventurer. This car is really about as good as it gets for a 1960 Desoto. First off this was what they call a dealer reveal car. Back in the day when new models coming out were a big deal all of the dealers would gather at the regional offices to be shown what the new models looked like and to make the first car orders for the new model year. They would make a special cars for the reveal that were loaded out with options to show off all the goodies for the new year. This Adventurer was shipped to the Portland, Oregon Desoto regional dealer office (as proven by the IBM punch card from Chrysler historical) in bright red paint with a white painted top. Lots of people take low line Desoto's and add all the cool options to the, this has them from the factory. Options include power swivel seats, dual mirrors, dual antennas, astrophonic radio, power windows, power steering, power brakes, clock, front and rear bumper guards, roof stainless steel, heater, tinted glass, rear defogger, windshield washers and more things I'm sure I'm forgetting. Car runs and drives great. The transmission was rebuilt around 2008 at a cost of $3300. Just had a marque expert go through the brakes and fix all the little leaks it had. Please let me know if you have any questions. Going to regret selling this one but trying to buy another Forward Look car and can't keep them all. Asking $25k and the car is located in Olympia, Washington. (IMG_9425s.jpg) (IMG_9418s.jpg) Attachments ---------------- IMG_9425s.jpg (94KB - 482 downloads) IMG_9418s.jpg (104KB - 513 downloads)

Expert 5K+ Posts: 7393 Location: northern germany | 25K... If it is as good/solid as it looks, this is a steal! Can you still buy a new car for 25k? Love 60 Desotos, very well engineered/looking cars.

Regular Posts: 53 | It does have a couple of rust spots but nothing too bad and the interior will need some work but it's an honest nice 20 footer. Try to price my cars realistically and not pie in the sky.

Expert Posts: 1886 | Honest feedback, it's a terrible ad. You need pictures of the issues you talk about. Get underneath and under hood shots. Not shots from 20' away. The car fits between restored and project and I think that's why you're seeing the struggle in price. People want a total project or a restored car, the middle is harder. Take much better pictures, give a better description and you'll likely get some offers. Sadly, I'm not sure you're going to get your price. Throw it up on ebay and see what happens.

That image is so poor, even doubling its size and "Sharpening" the image (twice), it still is difficult to read. Just sayin' (Good luck with your sale) (60DesotoAdventurerIBMcard.jpg) Attachments ---------------- 60DesotoAdventurerIBMcard.jpg (203KB - 443 downloads)

Regular Posts: 53 | This forum is not good for pictures, they have to be tiny to post and you can't see any detail. Put it on eBay and it just did terrible. Know it's kind of a tweener car with the work it needs but it's also a factory promotional car loaded with options. Check out the eBay auction for thorough pics of the condition of the car.

I know some "experts" will cut the whole panels out and make this a mess (and a bondo bomb, seen it countless times) but actually when you know what you are doing, it is done in a few days or maybe 2 weeks and the result will be just like from the factory, or better. Do not sell this unique gem under 20K. Wish I could afford it. Edited by 1960fury 2019-09-17 3:41 PM

I have been working on these cars all my live, from what I see I wouldn't need any donor cars, just an old bent hood or some old damaged fender of the same gauge.
