I used Aurora Design's conversion to AM, FM, MP3 (iPod), USB and Bluetooth 4 channel stereo on my 56 Dodge and have been happy:

Apparently there are cheaper add-on boxes out there (somewhere)(?)

Can you tell the difference in appearance?

this is the add on for our cars.

https://redirad.com/collections/all-products/products/redirad-for-am...

You can swap your internal also fairly easily, and cost runs probably 100$

here is the "empty version" with blue tooths...

Here is another simple solution... Some of these radio guys are like 600-800 for 50$ worth of hardware.

http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=69141&...

This guy sticks this radio in the glovebox, you could mount it behind the glove box, like a flap behind it to access later.

Use the remote and or your phone. I like the remote idea. (there are 100 of these)

kind of elaborate version, out of sight.

actually i like the "marine" guage radio in the glovebox. I can charge my phone from this also in the glovebox. You can hook a remote speaker for hands free on it also.

It runs pandora etc.

I really like the conversion that Denis does, but I don't want to have that LED display blocking the original radio face. Is it possible to mount the display remotely somewhere else?

I like that setup much better. Being able to turn off the display and make it look like a stock radio is really nice.

Will this work if my radio isn't in working order? the previous owner put a radio in and it doesn't work but I'd rather not hide or put an ugly radio in. I have a 56 savoy

He's gonna rip out all the guts to the radio anyway. I believe that the only thing that needs to work are the tuning knobs, and the movement to the dial indicator.
