Wow, custom 61 Canadian built Windsor - with a 62 New Yorker grille emblem, and cross rams. There are quite a few mistakes in the lengthy description.

What do they mean the engine was "upgraded" to accept the cross rams? They are a direct bolt on and the only internal change would be to retard the cam 4 degrees.

Is retarding the cam required to run them? If so, why?

Retarding the cam is not required but if you look closely at the cam specs. the factory apparently did. It helps by moving the peak power to a higher RPM. I don't believe this was done on the later Chrysler letter cars with the "short" long ram because they had a more aggressive solid lifter cam. I didn't do this on my 383 when I installed the ram manifold but was not aware of it at the time.
