Good Day All,
I am planning on upgrading the manual steering in my '60 Dart with a power steering setup out of a '63 Newport. I was cross-referencing the parts with a '60 and '62 service manual, parts catalog, and my interchange manual. The power unit from the '63 should work with my '60, but it looks like there may be different types of connections on the steering shaft between a manual shaft and a power shaft. I take it this is not just a simple matter of disconnecting the manual steering shaft from the manual gear box, swapping in the power gear box, and then reconnecting the shaft. It looks like I would need to swap out the sterring shafts, also?
Thanks for any thought or advice.
Bill

If it is like the '57-'59, you will need an entire power steering column as the upper portion that mates to the box is completely different.

Powerflite is correct. you will need the power steering column. Measure the length of the PS column. They are not all the same length. Although the Newport column will physically fit, it could likely be longer and set the steering wheel higher as you sit in the driver seat and possibly create a vision problem. Jerry

Thanks for your advice, guys. Good point on checking for difference in lengths between the two.
