The original Forward Look Seat belt buckles made by Davis /Canadian Nameplate Manufacturing back in the 1950's early 1960s can be reproduced by the same company that made them originally.
Davis is still in business, producing Aircraft Seat belts. http://davisaircraft.com/ They are now in South Carolina.
I sent them an email a few days ago asking if they could still make these .
Here is my Email to them and their reply below.

Hello,

Would you consider reproducing sets of these original buckles you made for Chrysler Canada back in the late 1950s to early 60s?
You can see them at this link. http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=36325&...
There are many people interested in these.
thanks
Ian Smale.

Hello, Ian.

Thank you for your interest in Davis Aircraft.
We could manufacture a minimum of 100 units @ $125.00 each.
Also they would say USA not made in Canada.

This means that we would have to have firm orders for 100 buckle sets - that means either 2 or 4 per car.

100 buckles would total $12,500.00 plus and taxes and freight, in US dollars of course.

Would there be enough of us interested?    I would get 2 myself for the rear seat, as I already have 2 in front.

I have a different early style of mopar seat belt in one of my 61s (see attachment)
It's hard to tell in the pic but,it says mopar with the flookerang

I would be interested in a pair, but for that price I do expect them to be complete and ready to install with a couple of color options for the webbing.

Thank you Ian!

Is there confirmation that the ‘set’ is enough for 2 passengers? I don’t read that in the reply from Davis and just want to make sure forum members and the manufacturer thinking along the same lines, as that could easily double the cost. I’d be interested in enough for four passengers. Might be interested in enough for eight passengers (2 cars) if that is actually only 4 sets.

At this point, until I hear more from Davis, I am assuming a set means one buckle, both halves. No webbing. $125.00

I had these made in Portland OR - full set of 6 with other half and webbing, for about the cost of one of these. Good enough for me.

$125 each for just the buckle? You'll never sell enough of them at that price to break even. but looks like they figure in the overhead to get started and $12K is their minimum overhead value to consider doing it. Seeing how each car requires at least 4 buckles, that's only enough for 25 cars. I need 6 for my cars. If you can get the price down, you should be able to sell more than that, but get them down to around $50 each, at least. Ask him a price for 500 and 1000 parts to see how it decreases with quantity. When going into manufacturing, you have to make a financial commitment to even think about it.

OK everyone,
SO the latest news from Davis is that they can reproduce the buckles but they CANNOT put the Forward Look Logo on them as it is a Registered Trademark. So this thread is done. Wish they had told me that in the first place.

I would be surprised if the registration for that logo is active. They haven't used it since 1960 and a lot of the old symbols were never registered. They only registered them if they continued to use them or if they thought they would. You can do a search for all the logos & trademarks owned by CHRYSLER CORPORATION here. You can also click the image list option to make it easier to scroll through and see all the images. I didn't see it in there. If we could prove to them that it was not active, would they go ahead?

And I would be surprised if Chrysler is the owner of the trademark now.

The trademark list for FCA is VERY short. They don't redo all the trademarks once a company changes names. The new company just takes over all the previous ones.

Yesterday, while looking for something for one of my 56 Dodge projects at Michaels (of all places), I discovered "Cricut".

Cricut is an automated system/machine that can be used to cut an number of materials, including sticky vinyl. It can be used to cut/print names, logos, shapes, etc.

The shapes can be from a jpg, like say a Fookerang image jpg.

https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&biw=1743&bih=866&tb...

The vinyl sheets come in a variety of colours including metallics.

Hmm....Makes one think about what could be done.

Here is a tutorial video about importing an image and cutting it out:

Not to derail the thread, but I snapped a pic of these seat belts that are in my no options 61 savoy. It's a dept of the Navy car from Mare Island Naval weapons station. In 61 they were building Atomic subs there. These buckles have the Atom symbol on them. 61 navy issued ?
