1956 Dodge D500 Sierra 8 Passenger Wagon, One of thirteen D500 station wagons built in 1956. I've had this since 2010 and have only located one other in Europe. A black and white version with much fewer options. The true early verions of the D500 Dodge had a 315 cubic inch, 260 hp Hemi V8, one year only, Dodge only. Mine has the original numbers matching motor with documentation. They were built on a Chrysler frame, factory lowered with 12 inch brakes. Dodge made both six and eight passenger wagons and I can't even find one other eight pass version like mine anywhere!. Notice the factory ordered green tint glass including the windshield, and a factory installed luggage rack with red bullit reflectors on it! Power steering, power brakes, and a power front seat are some more rare options to have. I've done a bit of work including the fuel system with w new tank and sender, carb rebuilt, new water pump and generator, tires and brakes including cylinders, trans work, and some exhaust too. So much info to list, I'll keep adding to this... Here is a link to a ton of info on the D500 in general. http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=64334&... There is rust, the first two owners were in South Carolina. I'm also including two front floor pans as the rust is there and a hole in the back by the tailgate on the drivers side. I've replaced the carpet only where it had to be and left the original in there as much as possible. Carpet and sill plates are just laying in place. I've kept in mind the next owner, so they will have some discovery fun too! Call me to discuss but keep in mind that I'm in Ca, so please mind the time zones. Chris at 310-709-556*

$19,500 negotiable

I think that he hasn't looked hard enough for other D500 wagons. There is the one in France (via the UK via the US), the one Doc Desoto owned and a few others. Bruce Faulkner kept track of D500s in general and he has 3 D500 wagons that aren't this one in his data base.

I think that it is maybe one of 13 but not 1 of 1 as his photos suggest

Well, maybe he's one of those guys who claim it's "one of one" in this color, with these options, and this trim code? I was sent pics of this car at one of the mopar shows in California earlier this year. I passed on it because of the rust holes in the rear panel below the tailgate and also inboard of the rear taillights. Really trying to stick with rust free cars from now on, and this one, while rare, is just a little to rough for me.

Doe the rear tailgate/taillight area rust issues show in this photo?

Yes, look at the base of the left taillight bezel, hole the size of a golf ball through the body, more rust right behind the bumper, hidden in most shots. Also the floors are really bad in the front. Would be really hard to run this car as is, would almost have to do a full or partial resto to get it solid and presentable.

Seller says it is a Dodge built on a Chrysler wheelbase. So I for one immediately know he hasn't done ANY research and doesn't know diddly squat. Or, he is an outright liar. Dodge wagons are on a 120 inch wheelbase. Chryslers all on a 126 inch wheelbase. Nuff said?

Yeah, he's probably going off the whole D501/D500 info floating around that also claims that D500's got NASCAR-spec "lowered performance suspensions" and "thicker control arms" and such... Funny how simple common sense overrules a lot of the hype that gets thrown around.

The "split bench" design for the second row seats is cool. Something should've kept with the later model wagons
