My 63 Imperial has a rebuilt factory air conditioning system and it operates quite well. I do have a small leak somewhere and I believe its at the flare fittings where the the hoses and lines join. Upon a little research, I found a Chrysler Master Tech filmstrip that mentions copper gaskets at these connections. Can anyone who has refurbished one of these systems confirm that there are indeed copper gaskets used? If so, where can I purchase these or what is the dimensions? Also, if these gaskets are used, are they used at every fitting or only where the hoses join to the hard lines? Thanks in advance.

As I recall, they are used to prevent steel on steel contact in those particular connections. I have had good luck in reusing some but ideally they should be new because they definitely crush with use. I got them from a large commercial A/C service place, but, that was years ago!

I've never seen flare gaskets in a factory installation, to me they're more of a repair part for pesky leaks.

For the 45° flares used in automotive systems, check this out:

Yes. Thanks for the link.
Those gaskets look exactly like the 57/58 copper gaskets used in ALL factory connections between steel tubing flare seats and hard steel fittings. And, yeah, I've seen a number of these too!! I used to have a little drawer for them!!

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't replace these gaskets because there were none on my factory installation. If it turns out that the leak is indeed at one of these connections, I will put these gaskets at all appropriate connections.

Learn something new every day, found them in the parts book P/N 152182.
