Expert Posts: 1267 Location: San Antonio TX | Top of the car looks nice and solid. Bottom of the car not so much.

Expert Posts: 4042 Location: Connecticut | 58 with 57 fenders, apparently. Fender top mouldings are from 57. Also, 57 buckets don't fit into 58 openings. Ron

Extreme Veteran Posts: 531 Location: Park Hills, KY | I visited the car today. As previously stated, top 85 percent of car is solid as a rock. Needs floors and trunk. Definitely a 58. 57 fenders and headlights. Interior is totally gone. Wood paneling door cards, vinyl stretched over seat frames with no padding. Indoor outdoor carpet with residential pad. Headliner is makeshift and falling. Floors and trunk have been done with riveted sheet metal with loads of tar visible between frame and rocker. Rockets are gone as are both lower front quarters. Trunk and extensions are poorly riveted as well. Hasn’t run in 20 plus years and motor won’t turn. . Broken windshield. Frame looked ok but I’d have real concern about body mounts considering there is nothing but tar. It is definitely a high dollar project. LOADS of metal work and unfortunately, it’s the costly structural stuff. I have a lot of pics, but no way to post.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 531 Location: Park Hills, KY | The condition of the underside has me extremely on the fence for this car. There is essentially tin and tar on both sides between what is left of the rocker all the way past the frame toward the trans hump. Same in the trunk, the rot goes all the way into the center section of the trunk on both sides I know its rare to find one, but wow.....this thing is a lot of work. I am not sure if the car was wrecked and thats why the fenders were replaced, or maybe they were rusted out. Nonetheless, I want to buy it, but I think Id be biting off more than I can chew. That said, how often does one's holy grail drop into their lap at only 100 miles away? gimme some advice here!! If anyone has any questions, let me know.

Location: North Australia | Advice is easy! Ditch the idea of a crusty old Plymouth, go for an Imperial! Check out the coupe in this link. Rarer, more powerful, more room, just as attractive. That Plymouth has Backache/Headache written all over it. Steve. https://classiccars.com/listings/find/1958/chrysler/imperial https://youtu.be/JllLR2rWsms Edited by 60 Imp 2019-10-15 7:23 AM

Extreme Veteran Posts: 531 Location: Park Hills, KY | It definitely has wallet-ache written all over it. Curious what the group's opinion of cost of metal work for full floor and trunk replacement. Someone call Fridberg!!!! Edited by Cmangeot 2019-10-15 12:25 PM
