Elite Veteran Posts: 769 | 30,000 acre wildfire burning out of control. 35-75 mph winds. Multi County wide power outages. Mass large city evacuations. Traffic jams. Very apocalypse feeling. Fire is getting close. Just evacuated one my running 61s. I will be OK if wind doesn't change direction. Attachments ---------------- image.jpeg (174KB - 573 downloads)

Elite Veteran Posts: 769 | The high winds finally stopped the fire has grown to 78k acres. Est 300 homes lost? There is now 60% containment. Fortunately for me the erratic 75mph winds went north. Imagine just having a few hours to decide what your going take with you and what your going leave behind. Fortunately there was a timely warning of the fire storm. No lives lost. The mass evacuation, traffic jams and and PGE blackout had everybody on edge! If you have ever seen the twilight zone classic (The monsters are due on maple st) ! Back home today.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 7400 Location: northern germany | I know what it feels like. It is terrible. We had to evacuate in the summer of 75. Fortunately the wind changed direction short of a mile from my familys house, the air full of smoking flakes of soot falling down on our house with a thatch roof. I'll never forget that. Glad you made it!!!

Elite Veteran Posts: 769 | Here we go again! Freak lightning storm like I have never seen before with 2500 strikes starts countless wildfires. Some are out of control. More lighting storms in the forecast 100+ degree weather all week. Fire crews are getting tired. Resources are getting thin. Ive been getting things ready just in case. Too much to do too soon. Will be moving some running cars to safer ground tomarrow . Attachments ---------------- image.jpeg (199KB - 421 downloads)

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9667 Location: So. Cal | You should pull them all away from the wood fence. That could save them. For a while, it looked like we were going to have fire in our neighborhood and I pulled all my cars away from the trees. Cars aren't real flammable, but they will catch fire if next to a fuel source.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 7400 Location: northern germany | Or, if possible, soak the fence with water, so that wooden fence could be even protective, for a time. I hope the fire doesn't reach you! Good luck.

Elite Veteran Posts: 769 | Things, have calmed down. I had evacuated the runners and heavily power washed the fence and surrounding areas Cut deadwood, Did a lot of overdue cleanup. Used a bobcat to cut fire lines. Since 2017 we have had major evac wildfires every year.!!
