I’m the owner of this 58 custom royal but I’m trying to decode my tag cause I believe this car is one of the firs 1200 made ..
I wouldn't get too excited about being one of the "first 1200" built. In 1958 there were three plants that built 58 Dodges. Yours was built in the Los Angeles plant. That comes from both the VIN plate LD3L = L (1958), D (Dodge), 3 (Custom Royal (or Suburban Custom) and L (Los Angeles) - plus the WCD - LA on the cowl data tag. Like the other plants, the VINs started at 1001, so 1184 is actually only 184th Custom Royal (or Suburban Custom) that was built at the LA plant. From the Cowl data plate and the far left, it was built around October 27th 1957, probably the first month of 58 production run.
The paint code ZXZ = Gold roof, eggshell upper and gold lower
