Ok so heres the story. I sent my Complete door handles to a renowned chrome plater. He stripped them, rechrome them and sent them back but no linkages springs etc - all missing. I complained and he sent me another 2 couple handles to repalace the parts he lost. Anyways I pulled the replacements apart and reaasembled mine using those parts. I go to put the handles in the car and it seems the linkages dont drop down far enough for me to get the bolt in from the hole in side of door.

Here is a pic of the linkage which measures 5 1/4 inches. If someone has front door handles from a 57 58 59 Imperial Coupe can you measure it so I can verify this length is correct or not or did I end up with linkages from a back door. It would be very much appreciated.

If it aint hard enough to restore a FL car in another country and you get Dickheads that have no care for your parts. Measurement is from centre of rivet

The handles on two door and front door handles on a four door '58 Imperials are technically the same but that linkage is longer on the four door cars.
You can use a four door handle on a two door if you drill a new hole in the linkage
You can use a two door handle on a four door if you extend the linkage
or you can replace the corresponding latch to match the handle

That doesn't make sense. My car is a 2 door and the Linkage is too short but your saying 2 doors have the shorter linkage?

Did you ever get this solved? If not I have some 2 door handles I can take pics of or measure.

I just drilled more holes in the linkage so I could bolt them up. Not correct but what do you do?. Thanks for the offer though.
