You actually may be able to, though probably not through eBay since they monitor that stuff closely. The owner needs to move it fairly quickly. I decoded this car for him and it is in fact coded as a solid black car from the factory, even with having the sweep trim, so this does appear to be mostly the original paint. Solid colors with full sweep trim was not very common on these.

I'm also adding a photo to the thread for reference later when the eBay link dies.

Hello David aka Fireflite56! Thanks for the link!
You told that you decoded this car as solid black – that’s true: Code 301 on the cowl tag means Jet Black Paint.
Can you identify optional codes SG = 5, M8 = 4, and M9 = 8? What does it all means?
We know SG means solex tinted glass, but it would be code 1. Maybe SG code 5 means tinted glass plus outer sun cap visor?
We are (me, 56D500boy, RDP, Powerflite and others) trying to decode options Dave’s LA-built 1956 Dodge Custom Royal Sedan and you could be help us.
1956 LA tags are identical between Chrysler divisions – Chrysler, DeSoto, Dodge, Plymouth but they hard to identify. Here is the link of our discussion:

I am interesting about 1956 DeSoto Trim Codes personally. This car has trim code 857 – Gray and White Leather Combination – it info helps me.
I never know it before. Can you help me to fill in the blanks? Here is the link:

Thank you in advance!
