Elite Veteran Posts: 1018 Location: Milwaukee Wisconsin | Hey Guys ! I have a question ...I'm repalcing my trunk floor in my 59 dodge cr ........ I need a close up picture on the driverside trunk floor area where the rubber body mount attaches to the frame rail . On my trunk floor where the rubber mount is , the floor rusted away above the rubberbody mount . I need to know what it is suppose to look like ( is the trunk floor metal flat or is it raised up a bit above that rubber mount like a crown ). here are a couple pics of a 59 dodge trunk floor NOT MINE ) Thanks ! This is from a '58 pan, but I don't think there is any difference in the '59. Elite Veteran Posts: 1018 Location: Milwaukee Wisconsin | Thanks for the pics Powerflite ! sooo.. appears the hole sits in the square boss area and the hole has a raised lip contour on it looking from inside the trunk correct ? I wasn't sure if it had a little raised area around the hole . or just flat . the raised lip probally came the area a little strength in the point of contact. Thanks again ! john

Elite Veteran Posts: 1018 Location: Milwaukee Wisconsin | wondering why the drv side appears different shape than the pass side. pass side floor hole looks flat. no raised areas .

On both sides there is a large section to the side of the mount that is pressed upward, and the mount is pressed downward below the flat plane of the main trunk pan. The white section at the mount in the picture you posted is dirt that has accumulated in the pocket there.

Elite Veteran Posts: 640 Location: Finland | Does 58 firedome have these mounting points at all? On my car there was no bracket on the framerail side but instead there are one rubber cushions one on top of each rail. They looked original to me . The floor was cut out by an earlier owner so that tells me nothing.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9605 Location: So. Cal | I just did a cursory check of my '57-'58 cars to see which ones came with those brackets. I don't own any convertibles. Detroit cars: '57 Windsor 2dr-------------------(Yes brackets) '57 Windsor 4dr Sedan '57 New Yorker 4dr hardtop------(Yes brackets) '58 Firedome 2dr '58 Firedome 2dr '58 Fireflite 2dr '58 Fireflite 2dr '58 300D '57 300C '57 New Yorker 2dr '58 New Yorker 2dr Los Angeles Cars: '57 New Yorker 2dr----------------(Yes, brackets) '57 Windsor 2dr '58 Windsor 2dr '58 Coronet 2dr So it seems that they may have mostly used them on the convertibles, but they probably used them on the other cars randomly, maybe if they had made too many convertible parts that day? And probably more likely to have used them on the upper level cars than on the lower level ones. All of the roofed cars with brackets on them that I have are Chryslers, although we would need to see more samples to make any definite conclusions. Edited by Powerflite 2020-02-29 11:31 AM

Veteran Posts: 166 | I have cut a pair off of a 57 Dodge 4 door sedan. I think all 57's may have had them and after that only convertibles. 57's seem to have had some additional body brackets that were deleted in the following years.

Veteran Posts: 166 | I should a look more closely at your list Powerflite I does seem to be random. My 57 Windsor 2dr has them. I have never seen them on anything but convertibles after 1957.

Elite Veteran,, James Passed away March 2021, He will be Missed Posts: 1028 Location: Melbourne, Australia | The ones on ebay are just the main body chassis mounts , the buffer mounts you are after for teh front of the trunk floor come from Gary Goers /Quirey Quality , they make them, as i have a few sets .
