George, my 54 New Yorker uses the same Carter M-840-S
fuel pump & I had mine rebuilt by Hal Houghton in
upstate NY. You can find him online at:
www.classicpreservation.com
He's very knowledgeable & responsive to questions. The
phone there is: (518) 674-2445

Good Luck,
Bob Schoenberg

-53 Custom Imperial Sedan
-54 New Yorker DeLuxe

**P.S. my fuel pump did not have a glass bowl, nor
does my 53 Imperial with the same 331 engine. I'm
quite certain that Hal can help you in any event.

It's odd that 8 years ago, I could go up to any parts store and purchase those. Now they are completely devoid of them. I didn't realize how quickly parts companies would eliminate their inventory, or else I would have bought a bunch of them.

Yes it’s crazy how that works . I have a mid 70s AC catalogue and it already mentions when stock is exhausted blah blah blah . So the the 392 57-58 pumps were already unavailable by then .
