We live in amazing times.

Now there's a distributor that the advance curve can be programmed on the fly with your smart phone.

Even has an anti-theft kill switch. That's pretty cool. Price isn't cheap though at $530. I think that most people wouldn't know the first thing about what makes a good timing map, and to really do it well, it would need to be adjusted on the fly due to other inputs like vacuum, throttle position, temperature, or boost values.

Yeah I think a computer program doing that on the fly is more ideal and getting more than 1 input such as revs, temp, o2, throttle position and so on. Neat but not needed in my opinion. The antitheft is a cool option. If you really want that much control a modern fuel injection system can provide that. A magnetic pickup distributor is a nice cheap upgrade to points. Take it a little further with an ignition box and coil.

Neat but I will be passing on that haha.

Just another technology "break-through" that fulfills no need.

Just because we can, doesn't mean we should.

(And frankly I'm about done with the whole "I need everything connected to my phone" thing)

Opinions vary, I'm probably older than most members here but I embrace new technology.

As far as the "not needed", wait 'til you've you're stuck with an older car with 11-1 compression that needs the advance curve altered.
