| Hi , I have a 1957 Dodge Royal D 500 Lancer.
It has a squeak in the front end, which has worsened in recent days. If I press down on drivers fender, the squeak appears. Of course it squeaks while driving.
Shocks are one year old or so, from Mopar Mall.
Wondering if its ball joints or bushings? Could it be the torsion bar?
Thanks Bob |

Location: Sept. 1958 | Possibly control arm bushings. Make sure the shocks hardware didn’t get loose. With grease in ball joint, I’d doubt that would make the noise unless it has a lot of play. |

Lots of potential points for squeaking if something is loose or not lubricated. It would help if you could be under the car (say on a muffler shop hoist that you drive on to) while somebody else pushes or pulls the suspension down (and up). Then you will start to locate the point of the squeak.

Location: Wisconsin | My '59 Fireflite started squeaking just like that a few months after replacing front shocks (I used Gabriel brand shocks). I still have not located or fixed the squeak as I have other bigger items to fix, but I read or heard somewhere that it could be the rubber bushing at the top of the shock. I believe someone suggested a little silicon grease around the bushing halves to silence that. If you figure it out, let me know and I will do the same if I fix mine first. I am probably diving back into the front end in the next week or two here and that will be located and addressed at that time. |

| I greased the ball joints. Noise has been reduced 75 percent. Lets see if grease works, its way in a little more. Thanks for all the help.

Location: Ponder, TX | I've had two different Mopars with anti-sway bar bushings that squeaked. Lubricating only defeats the performance of the bar, so I put up with it.
