Are the headliners in this era of Mopar wagons a moulded piece or multiple pieces?

The '55 and '56 are a one piece, ... moulded might be a stretch, it is a very thin plastic of some kind that becomes very brittle over time, that splits and cracks when moved. I am, as we speak, attempting to recover mine with fabric because other then painting there's not much you can do, Gary S. built a fiberglass one for his hardtop (I think). More info available if required.

I can envision myself pulling my vintage camping trailer with this wagon. Color matches well.

Mine is complete but damaged. Do you think there is any chance of getting it out in one piece and patching from the back?

Yes, for sure, ... ask me how I know?  So I have to come clean here and admit what I had to do. Due to the car being up on axle stands when I went to take out my headliner, ... the car was too close to the wall, so rather than lowering the car and moving it forward I cut the headliner in two.

I flipped it over backwards on a table and patched all the small rips and tears and then double taped the cut it on both sides with gorilla tape and will be glueing on one piece of fabric on the inside.

Extra hands help a lot. I can take pictures at this stage if you like, I am still waiting for the material .

That is encouraging, yes I would be interested in pics. You were very brave! But I guess at worst a new lining is the solution. My car is running and pretty much original and would like to get it back to original Pompano Peach colour and keep the head lining if possible. have thought about making a wood frame to drop it onto, then enlist help from a few mates to wangle it out

I will take some pictures and post today.

I think it would be paintable after repairs to the backside. For me, I hope that by covering the old one it will cover the small repaired splits that are there. I don't think there is a new replacement other than building one of some kind, either like the original or with fiber board or with bows and fabric.

The problem with getting it out is that it is wider than the back door so has to be turned or squished slightly, it will handle a little abuse.

Shows it is possible? Mine looks a bit worse for wear than that, but only a couple of damaged areas. Will think about it while I'm working on my 38.

Was seriously considering buying this car and had numerous conversations with the seller. Extremely nice individual and provided pictures of the engine compartment
and various other specific parts of the car I asked for. I was a bit disappointed with the engine compartment and the heater not functioning among a few more minor
details. It was converted to 12V which really didn't bother me but I just couldn't justify the price in addition to what I would have to invest in order for me to be
completely satisfied. Plus I'm pushing 80 and find it more difficult to do things myself which I prefer as long as I'm able even if it's at a slower pace. Otherwise I
would have jumped on it and began the repairs and detailing the car deserves.
