According to a post by “PowerFlite” in another thread, B=1966 so it would be a 383 from 1966

I always wondered why they didn't use W,Y,Z.

It's also odd that Dodge was the only one to use the letters before 1958. Or is that not true?

That's not what I meant. The letter for 1957 is "K". Only Dodge, to my knowledge, used this letter K to designate that the motor was made in 1957.
