Does anybody have a spare 1955 Plymouth Powerflite gear selector shaft with the chrome knob? Even probably just the chrome knob would be great. If you can help, would like to hear from you. I'm not sure what model 1955 Plymouth had the chrome knob. Thanks, Steve

Steve: I know that your RHD export 56 Dodge has the RHD Plymouth dash and your Powerflite gear selector is based on the 1955 Plymouth selector. All the photos that I have seen of 1955 Plymouth Interiors show a black knob at the end of the gear selector rod/wand. Like this one:

The 55 Dodges had a chrome knob but the gear selector was very different than your Plymouth-based selector. Like this one:

Even the 55 Desotos had a black plastic knob and the end of the Powerflite selector wand:

I think only the 55 Chryslers and Imperials had chrome knobs:

Hi Dave, I may be mistaken, but I think there is one in a car nearby. I can get a photo in a weeks time to post. If I am wrong, I will correct this thread.

Thanks, Steve

Here is a photo of the Gear selector "knob" I was wanting to acquire. This car is Sydney, Australia. It may be that this car does not have an original knob...it has been suggested it may have been sourced from a local ( Australian) late 50's Chrysler Royal??? I am currently looking into this. The pattern of the knob does seem to match door handles etc and other instrument knobs, hence the assumption this was a 1955 Plymouth part. But I believe Australian Chrysler Royals and the Custom Royals did share some parts ??

.
Definitely resembles the fluting pattern on the 55-56 Dodge instrument panel and door handle knobs.

Here it is a bit bigger.
