I wouldn't believe it (is a D500 with a Super D500 engine) unless I saw the body tag and even then I would still want to see the IBM card.

It looks like the push button unit indicates powerflite transmission. Was that possible with D500 option?

Torqueflite would have definitely been a better choice for the D500 but it is was an option. Whether or not it was manditory with the D500 option, I don't know. Neil Vedder probably would have known (I wonder whether he posted about that or not). Greg?

:)

Igor: We got fooled by the fender skirts. This car came up recently in the 57 D500 body code thread (by you ) and the following comments were offered:

arizona mopar gold - 2020-08-15 12:40 AM
56D500boy - 2020-08-14 11:03 AM
Igor: That cowl tag is from this car (below) that nobody believes is legitimate, even as a Super D500. It has a KD500 325 engine, not a D501 354 engine.:)

The teal/white Coronet 2dr sedan was owned by Bill Amberger of OH...he stated it was a flathead six when he sold it to the owner who was/is selling it...Sean Mecardo sold them the NOS D500 Emblem

It's like a bad penny. It just keeps showing up. And Up. And up.

This car wound up near me and the man who bought it would swear every which way that it was authentic and had no interest in authenticating it. When Neil was around we discussed this car and it was for sale for a LONG time both before then and now.. this car is not a real D500 super or otherwise.

It’s a shame that some people don’t seem to have any conscience when it comes to misrepresenting what they sell. You’d think the seller would come clean and realize that most people looking to buy a 57 Dodge d500 will have done their homework, and that’s why it’s been for sale so long. I guess if one person falls for it though, then it was all worth it to them.

So does anybody here know if any real D500’s in 57 came with a PowerFlite? I thought they were all torqueflites.

But they don't all do their homework. This car was first for sale for around 16k, which was bought by dishonest persons(), cleaned, polished, and then flipped for the 30k range. I don't know how many times it's switched hands other than that but I will address the dishonesty.

This car did not even have a radio factory installed. the fender antenna is not the original design and there is no capacitor filter on the generator.

I was unaware of the history of the car. until this thread I hadn’t seen it before. When it was first sold for $16k was that person trying to pawn it off on someone as a D500 or did the flipper who sold it for $30k add the D500 emblems, etc?
Unfortunately there are deceitful people in this world. I remember someone in Minnesota selling 1958 Fury Convertibles as being genuine factory made cars when there was no such thing.
You would think anyone willing to shell out $31,000 would ask questions and do their homework, but you’re right not everybody does. At least the people like you and the others who have posted in this thread help expose the truth and maybe that will prevent someone else from being the next sucker.

No, the first time I saw the car for sale it was in the Bay Area craigslist ads for 16k. I believe the ad said the engine wasn't original to the car and was installed. I don't think it had the D500 emblem on the trunk yet either..
