Yeah, looks like a vintage aftermarket brake booster.

Has the correct 1961 spec alternator too!

It's a Hydro-Vac unit. Many were dealer installed if a customer requested power brakes on a car presently on the showroom floor that had manual brakes, and was necessary to sell the car.

In the early '80's I worked at a place that installed A/C, power windows, etc. for the local car dealers, when a customer requested certain options on a car already on the showroom. Used to be a common practice before all the electronic equipment nowadays.
