Hi Guys. The instrument lighting has failed on my 60 Dodge Dart. I'm a complete layman in electronics, but I tried to measure the headlight switch. I dismantled the push button cover and was able to measure the individual poles of the switch with a multimeter. Approx. 12 volts arrive at all poles, except for the pole for the instrument lighting (orange cable port). Can I safely assume that the swtich is defective? I want to be sure before I order a new swich overseas.
Oh - prior to that procedure I also did a continuity test of the orange cables for the lighting. The cables are all fine and the bulbs are intact.

Is there a trick how to pull the control button out of the switch? I heard about a "release button"?

Location: Southern Sweden - Sturkö island		Most likely the rheostat has bad contact. Feel on the light switch for a little springloaded button - press in the button when the swith is in the off position and pull out the knob with a even fast pull. You will now have the knob with the stem loose. The it's easy to demount the switch.

In the meantime I have found the easiest solution. I put a flat plug distributor on the pin for the tail light and connected it to the Dashlight cables. On that one pin now is connected the tail light AND the dash light. The dashlight lights up again. So I simply did override the defective dimmer. I don't need it anyway.
